“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.” – Kofi Annan
A good teacher taps into the potential of the student, helping them identify their talents and pushing them toward long-term pursuits. We realize that shaping these patterns are critically important to success in collegiate programs, contemporary careers and work environments for their future.
Get Fokus’d Productions (GFP) develops and designs digital media workshops to teach youth how to use the camera as a creative outlet and self-expression. Students develop skills in photography, literary arts, organization, planning and goal implementation strategies. Students are encouraged to tap into their potential through photography to share how they view the world around them. Students learn the basics of photography while also incorporating elements of poetry and storytelling that exemplifies grace, beauty, and stories through the camera.
GFP not only teaches photography skills to youth in underserved communities but cultivates artistic expression by helping them develop the knowledge, skills, work habits, and character traits to help them flourish in today’s climate. Students are guided and instructed to use critical thinking and social skills as they critique the photography and writing of their peers. The program culminates with students selecting their best collective work to be printed and displayed in a collective book and/or showcased in a gallery for their peers, family and community to view.
